The UFC has announced it will head to Chicago, IL for UFC 238 in June, even though it’s yet to release details for UFC 236 which is just two months away.
The UFC has officially announced they will touch down in Chicago, IL for UFC 238 on June 8, 2019. The announcement came during the broadcast of UFC 234, which many felt was a total flop. The main event for UFC 234 was canceled just hours before the event when reigning champion Robert Whittaker was forced into emergency surgery for a hernia repair. His opponent, Kelvin Gastelum declared himself the new champ and then went on a small media tour backstage.
The co-main event a showdown between Israel Adesanya and Anderson Silva was promoted to the main event.
No bouts have been announced for UFC 238 yet nor has a location been announced for UFC 236 which is just months away. This will be the first time the promotion has traveled to the Windy City since it’s successful UFC 225 event last year.
Fans had mixed reactions to the announcement, though most were in unity in wanting to not see CM Punk in the Octagon again. He was featured in last years UFC 225 event and has gone 0-2 in his Octagon showings.
Some fights which have been mentioned that would doubtlessly land on the Chicago card are a matchup between former champ-champ Conor McGregor and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, a rematch between UFC bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes and Cris “Cyborg” Justino or a rematch between UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo and UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw.
UFC 238 will happen on June 8, 2019, on the United Heart in Chicago, IL.
UFC 234 befell on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, stay from the Rod Laver Area in Melbourne, Australia. Observe together with FanSided MMA for all of your stay outcomes and highlights all through the night time.
