Game of Thrones season 8 premiere ends on most socially awkward cliffhanger yet
Jon Snow is gonna take his [redacted] to the old town road, he’s gonna riiiiiiiide ’til he can’t no more.
This post contains spoilers for the Game of Thrones season 8 premiere.
Game of Thrones is wasting no time balling out with HBO’s finale season CGI budget, which is just to say, the premiere gave us major dragon action. Most notably: Jon Snow rode a dragon! Rhaegal, to be specific.
Many fans predicted Snow would be the one to saddle up and ride Rhaegal alongside Dany and the confirmation in the season 7 finale that he was a Targaryen all but confirmed it would happen in the final six episodes. Still, it was a bit of a surprise to see it happen in the premiere. Frankly, though, it’s nice of HBO, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss to give the people what they want, particularly with something as low-hanging as putting Jon on a dragon.
Twitter, of course, lived for this moment, as it does for most Thrones moments involving dragons. Here are some of the best reactions.
If there was any doubt about Jon Snow’s Targaryen lineage, riding a dragon should certainly set some of that to rest. Now, whether Tyrion — who we’ve already seen interact with the dragons in chill fashion — is also a Targaryen and whether he will also saddle up and ride his dragon to
the old town road battle with the Night King, that remains to be seen.
